Event details
GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are now part of everyday conversations about health and weight. They are often discussed in extremes, as a solution, a shortcut, a failure, or a threat.
We are collaborating to offer this webinar because real experiences and the research are more complex than the headlines. This conversation is shaped by the combined perspectives of Rachael Wilson (The Food Tree), Dr Morgan Edwards and Dr Beth Shore, and their expertise across nutrition, medicine, and the psychology of eating and appetite.
GLP-1 medications have moved rapidly from niche diabetes treatments into widespread use for weight loss. Alongside this has come confusion, pressure, hope and anxiety, often without enough space to explore what these medications do, what they do not do, and how they fit into the broader picture of health and wellbeing.
This webinar offers a calm, evidence-based and non-stigmatising space to understand Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications beyond the noise.
Using a Health at Every Size informed approach, we explore how GLP-1 medications work in the body, how they affect hunger, fullness and cravings, and what the research shows about weight loss, plateaus and regain. We also look closely at the limits of the evidence, including the differences between clinical trial conditions and real-world use.
Importantly, this conversation goes beyond weight and beyond food. We examine commonly discussed side effects such as nausea, reflux and constipation, alongside less visible but clinically significant impacts, including nutritional compromise, muscle loss, changes in food enjoyment, emotional wellbeing and eating disorder risk.
For those who choose to use GLP-1 medications, we share practical, harm-reduction strategies to support nutrition, protect muscle mass and metabolism and manage side effects. For those who do not, we explore ways to understand and manage food noise, appetite and health without medication. This webinar is not about promoting or discouraging Ozempic use. It is about supporting informed consent, autonomy and choice, with evidence, nuance and care.
What we will cover
How Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications work, and how they can affect hunger, fullness, cravings, and “food noise”
What the research shows about weight loss, plateaus, and regain, and what we still do not know
Why weight alone is a poor measure of health, and why weight cycling matters
Common side effects and less talked-about impacts, including nausea, reflux, constipation, nutrition concerns, muscle loss, mood changes, and changes in food enjoyment
The relationship between GLP-1 medications, food noise, and eating disorder risk, including who may be more vulnerable
How to support your health if medication is used, including protecting nutrition, muscle mass, energy, and mental wellbeing
Ways to manage appetite and food noise without medication
Planning safely for dose changes or stopping medication, and how to navigate conversations with health professionals

Here's what other parents are saying...
I’m a huge fan of The Food Tree and their approach to body image and fostering a positive relationship with food. They’re informative, knowledgeable, helpful, and gentle. I’ve attended several of their workshops, and each time I leave with new tools to create a positive environment for my children around body image and self-acceptance.
Gemma Vergo
I learned so much from the workshop! Thank you. I feel much more relaxed about how I approach body image discussions with my kids, and they seem more confident in their own skin.
